HISTORY AND ART
From the basin of Avellino, reached the exit of Nola
motorway, we turn into the entrance road for Cimitile, the old Coemeterium: village
in central position between Naples, Avellino, Benevento and Salern Cimitile keeps a basilican
complex of the most striking of Italia, carried out at the south margin of Nola
between the end of the III D.C. century and the first half of the V thanks to the work of
San Paolino .Is an archoelogical complex of unusual radiance and importance.
Cimitile was born as situated sepulchral of consular and
imperial Nola and the archaeological traces of the old Coemeterium submit to the urban
apparatus of today's small town. Roman burials of the II and III D.C. century are coming
to the light through archaeological excavates carried out under so called Complex of
the Basiliche di Paolino.

in this fertile and volcanic land: vegetables as tomatos and potatoes, aubergines and

GASTRONOMY

land, is in the special dishes of this zone. A particular note goes to the [casatiello]
with cheese and pepper and the roasted artichokes Very famous is a particular walnut base
rosolio, the "nocillo".
